General Overview
This three-year project resulted in the development of parenting educational resources for Aboriginal families across Canada with an emphasis on health, safety and growth/development. The resources focus on parenting children aged 6 to 12 years. Funding was provided through the Population Health Fund, and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Focus groups, surveys and a literature review was used throughout the development of the resources to ensure best practice evidence and usefulness to Aboriginal families and parenting facilitators.
For the purpose of this project, the term Aboriginal, includes First Nations (status and non-status), Métis and Inuit people as outlined in the Canadian Constitution.
