Bicycle Safety Week
We are excited to celebrate the 10th Annual Bicycle Safety Week with you!
Register for Bicycle Safety Week 2012
Once you have completed the on-line registration form you will receive an email that allows you to access all available resources and materials. The extent of your participation in Bicycle Safety Week once you have registered is up to you and your community.
Bicycle Safety Week is a week-long event for communities across the province of Saskatchewan, to participate in promoting bicycle safety for children and youth. Community groups and individuals are encouraged and supported to participate in the activities of Bicycle Safety Week.
Participation can be as simple as distributing safety information in your community to organizing one or more events and activities such as a safety fair, presentation from your local RCMP, bicycle rodeo or any other activity. How you participate in Bicycle Safety Week is up to you. Every action and contribution is valuable to ensuring the health and safety of child cyclists. Bicycle Safety Week is an optimal time for communities in Saskatchewan to raise awareness of the multiple components of bicycle safety.
Bicycle Safety Week 2012 will be held May 13th – May 19th. This year’s theme is “Save Your Melon”. “Save Your Melon” is brought to you by the Saskatchewan Prevention Institute, the Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, WorkSafe Saskatchewan, Canadian Tire, and the SGI/ABI Community Grant Program.
If you or your agency or group is interested in participating in Bicycle Safety Week 2012, we welcome your involvement!
As a registered participant you will receive materials, resources and give-away items not available by download. Support is available to registered participants of Bicycle Safety Week in the form of: sample press releases and media promotion, activity guides, material handouts, age-specific handouts for children, free give-aways, and more.
Give-away items for “Save Your Melon” include cycling helmets provided by Canadian Tire and the SGI/ABI Community Grant Program, as well as rulers, bells, magnets, and tattoos (while supplies last)! Register as a participant to find out more information.
Child participants of Bicycle Safety Week are encouraged to enter this year’s colouring contest. The winner of the colouring contest will have their artwork printed on the 2013 Bicycle Safety Week postcard and win a special edition watermelon helmet! Register as a participant to find out more information.
We hope you will join us in helping to prevent bicycle-related injuries among Saskatchewan children. Please feel free to call the Saskatchewan Prevention Institute at (306) 655-2512 if you have any questions.
